WES Construction - Western Exterior Services, General Contractors Serving Washington State

  • Roofing: Most roof projects require some interface into the other building components that are often beyond the capabilities of a roof contractor. Some projects involve ventilation, structural repairs, and most involve some interface with the exterior vertical surfaces. Roofing contractors are, by nature, often willing to work beyond their capabilities. With our knowledge and experience, we help you to select the best roofing contractor for the job, all while supporting the project with carpenters, sheet metal mechanics, plumbers, and/or painters to assure you get the project finished the way you want.

  • Building Exterior: The exterior is where your home meets the weather. Building materials behind the exterior cladding simply do not stand up to even a little bit of water. Your home not only needs to look great on the outside, but more importantly, the waterproofing layers have to be well thought out and perfectly applied.

  • Interior Restoration: We restore the interior to the standard that you choose and expect. The key to having a satisfied customer is making sure the contractor understands what the customer wants and that the customer plainly understands what it will cost. It is your home and you will be there every day after we are gone. We want to make sure that it is done correctly.

  • Mold: Mold is harmful to your health and often goes undiscovered. If you have mold, we will discover it and will remove the damaged material. However, removal alone will not solve your mold problem. Mold grows wherever there is “food” and water. We live in homes built out of mold “food” so our only option is to control the water. We are trained professionals and will determine the problem and map the solution.

  • Deck Waterproofing: Waterproof walking surfaces were uncommon 30 years ago, but are now present on many homes. These surfaces range from polyurethane coatings over wood to natural stone pavers over concealed membrane waterproofing.

  • Architecture: We are contractors, but we have great working relationships with some very talented and proven architects and designers. If you need an architect to help with a repair design or need some professional advice when it comes to the aesthetics of your home, we have the resources to fill your need.

Developing and constructing housing is a very cost-conscience industry. Sometimes during construction, many of the people actually installing materials such as siding and roofing are actually being paid “piece work.” Piece work is the method of paying a set amount based on the quantity rather than paying hourly wages. This is not how WES Operates. Piece workers make more money at the end of the week if they skip critical but time consuming steps. Because they are incentivized to maximize production, they have no interest in solving difficult transition problems.

We are extremely diligent in checking references, visiting jobs, checking credit and checking with material suppliers. We develop training for each sub for each job, were we work with the installers on mock ups. We prepare copies of the project details and make sure the workers understand what is required. We track who has been trained to do what and make sure that any new staff is trained before they work on our jobsite. We keep a weekly sheet with the names of all the field staff and what tasks they have been trained on. We inspect their tools. If they don’t have good sheet metal tools, they likely are not capable of doing good sheet metal work.

When subcontractors make a quality wage it is a lot easier to demand the best from them.
